Our Instructors: 

Peggy Swiderski has been teaching in the Middle Atlantic area for over 41 years.  She swam for the Wilmington Aquatic Club and attended the University of Delaware.  She has developed a unique method for teaching children to swim and enjoy the water.  Peggy is certified in CPR/First Aid/Lifeguarding and in USA Coaching.

Alicia (Swiderski) Caraballo is one of the founders of Swim School, Inc.  She swam competitively for Wilmington Aquatic Club.  Alicia was a member of the state champion Padua Academy swim team in high school.  She received many individual Delaware and Middle Atlantic swimming awards.  Alicia attended Wilmington College, and is certified in CPR/First Aid/Lifeguarding.  She has been teaching for 12 years.

Lindsay (Swiderski) Taggart helped to create Swim School, Inc. in 2008.  She swam competitively for Wilmington Aquatic Club.  She, along with Alicia, was a member of the state champion Padua Academy swim team in high school.  She received many individual state and Middle Atlantic swimming awards.  Lindsay received a swimming scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh where she completed her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Teaching.  She is certified in CPR/First Aid/Lifeguarding.  Lindsay has been teaching for 11 years.

Kiera Callahan-Kiera graduated from Unionville High School and is going into her Sophomore year at Loyola, she is a member of Loyola’s rowing team .Kiera is in her 2nd summer of teaching with SSI.  As a former SSI student and swimmer, she has first hand knowledge of our teaching method.  She is the oldest of 4 children all who are all competitive swimmers.  Because she is enrolled in college, Kiera is only available in the summer.

Ned Haubein swam for Wilmington Aquatic Club where he won various swimming awards.  After attending North Carolina State, he worked at Wilmington Aquatic Club as both a coach and instructor of pre-school and school age students.  After 25 years in retail sales, Ned is happy to be back as a swim instructor.  He is certified in CPR/First Aid/Lifeguarding.

Mark Nelson started swimming when he was 5 years old for Delaware Riptide Aquatics, and later in high school for Team Delaware. He received many individual state and Middle Atlantic swimming awards, and was an all-state swimmer in high school. Mark swam for George Mason University, and completed his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. He currently coaches for Wilmington Aquatic Club, has been teaching for 1 year, and is certified in CPR/First Aid/Lifeguarding.

Brady Mattson-Brady graduated from Delaware Military Academy in 2016 and is now a current student at Penn State University, Behrend.  He is apart of their mens swim team and was the AMCC champion in the 1650.  Brady was also named to the 1st team all conference.  Brady is the grandson of our swim team’s  (WAC) original founder Bob Mattson. Because Brady is enrolled in college, he is only available in the summer.

Debbie Peach swam for Newark Nomads and then for Wilmington Aquatic Club. She competed in many qualifing meets from Y nationals and High School States to Jr and Sr Nationals and eventually to World Games Trials.  She swam at the University of Maryland on a full swimming scholarship. Debbie then began her coaching carreer at the Rhode Island Y, and eventually became the assistant coach at Brown University.  After returning to Delaware, Debbie was head summer coach at the Bear Y.  She has a extensive background in teaching lessons to children with special needs. Debbie is CPR and lifeguarding certified.
